Three First Names

Song: Three First Names (Original Track)

She’s got three first names on a courthouse sign
Painted on a street about a mile from mine
Her roots run deep in the southern towns
From the iron gate ranch to the old fairgrounds
I see her name where the horses roam
On acres of dust that she calls home
Yeah, she rides that land like it’s her throne
And somehow it makes me feel less alone
I only know pieces, but I like every part
Even the mystery wrapped around her heart
I want this but I don’t want it too
Scared of how deep I could fall into
A world where she’s standing next to me
Laughing in boots in a field of green
Never thought I’d be writing songs
‘Bout a girl I barely know this long
But here I am, caught in her flame
Dreaming in the three first names
I picture her stirring gumbo slow
Barefoot dancing to the radio
Maybe spinning that wheel too fast
On a gravel road like it’s built to last
Southern charm I can’t outrun
Like a July heat with a loaded sun
She don’t even try and she don’t even know
How she lives in the lines I wrote
I’m happy just knowing she’s somewhere near
Even if she never lands right here
I want this but I don’t want it too
Don’t wanna lose what I feel about her
‘Cause in my head it’s perfect still
Just me and a thought that feels so right
Like porch light, glowing in the night
I like this world where she remain
A beautiful maybe with three first names
What happens when she finally tags along?
Does the dream get better or prove me wrong?
Does she fit like I think she will?
Or was she always just a thrill?
But tonight I’m fine right where I stand
Just tracing her name in this guitar in my hands
I want this, yeah, I probably do
Even if it scares me too
If she ever walks through my door
Boots on wood like I hoped before
Till then I’ll let this feeling stay
Like horses running far away
She don’t know it, but she changed my game
That girl with three first names
